Pacific Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is a longstanding nonprofit organization dedicated to providing standards-based, residential marine and environmental education programs for schools throughout Northern California.

PEEC offers students an immersive, hands-on opportunity to explore the diverse ecosystems of the Mendocino coast. On site, students investigate tide pools, beaches, a harbor seal rookery, coastal prairies, a freshwater lake, and a whale skeleton, gaining firsthand experience with the plants, animals, geology, and ecological processes that shape our coastal environment.

Beyond our campus, students discover even more of the region’s remarkable landscapes. They explore unique coastal sand dunes and hike through redwood and pygmy forests along the wave-cut terraces of the Jug Handle Ecological Staircase Trail.

Through these experiences, students learn not only about the natural world, but also about their place within it—building curiosity, environmental awareness, and a lasting connection to the California coast.
